Close Encounters “I was just coming back from the kitchen to my ‘office.’ It was another boring day. More checking and less conversation with co-workers. We talk to one another as if we were in the other room, but actually we’re in different states. As I walked in, I suddenly I heard a wheel screech, and a scream! I bolted out the door expecting to see a crash in front of the house! But there was nothing there. I don’t mean no crash, or no car… I mean that as I flew out the front door, I found myself looking at what appeared to be a giant lake, maybe the ocean.! There was water as far as I could see. Oddly enough, rather than instant panic, I stood looking at it for a minute. But then reality caught up, and I freaked out! I screamed so loud even I jumped! Whipping around to run back in my house, my house was gone! I was looking at dunes stretching back, and then hills or mountains beyond. I screamed ‘where is my house!’ at the top of my lungs, twirling between the water and the hills beyond! Then I crumbled down, frozen in panic, and not knowing what to do!” “And how did you get the coffee?” James asked. “Well, I had it in my hand already, I didn’t want to spill it, I was being careful…” “And when did the house come back?” “Well, it was so lovely and sunny there, I started watching the water, and the birds, so I’m not really sure…” “Ok, Mrs. Trent, let’s get you back inside…” “Oh, thank you Timmy. Whatever would I do without you!” ‘Timmy’ smiled. Beyond this job making good money, he was getting so many ideas for his fantasy books he almost giggled. |
