Everyone has at least one, if not two or three!

Junque Drawer

Everyone has one if not two or three.
That drawer where the odd-ball and homeless items
have a place to roost. That place you put things
that you don't want to lose track of before you
forget about them entirely!

*looks in her junk drawer*
Need a stamp? A clothespin, a push pin,
an oversized paperclip? Got 'em right here!
Fourteen assorted screwdrivers live within--
scattered appropriately for they cannot reside together. Ever.

Some sort of gasket, three washers, a pinecone
forty-six cents, a broken pencil, three spoons
that don't match, last (?) Thanksgiving's 'now dry enough' wishbone!
His old eyeglasses, two 'whatsits' and a widget,
and my mother's ring (!) I've been looking for forever!!

See, that's the thing about junque drawers.
Something gets stuck there for whatever reason
to keep it safe, so it shouldn't get forever lost.
Full of essential (when you need them) treasures
and an occasional heartfelt pleasure!
