Kitchen Issues

“Tell me the truth.”

“I always tell you the truth.”

“Yes, but I don’t want the truth about you sweeping the kitchen floor.”

“But I did, I did sweep the kitchen floor.”

“And thank you, but I still want to know how the flour got all over the counter.”

“Flowers?”

“No, flour, the white stuff I use in cooking, that is now all over the counter.”

“Oh, that’s called flour? That’s funny, is it made out of the flowers that grow outside?”

“No, it’s made out of… well, I’m not sure. I think it’s made from wheat. The point is, it’s all over the counter. Did you do something?”

“Yes!”

“What?”

“I swept the kitchen floor!”

“Jared!”

“What?”

“How did the flour get all over the counter?”

“I don’t know. It was like that when I came in. I thought you did it on purpose.”

“Why would I put flour all over the counter?”

“Well, you do that when you’re cooking sometimes. So, I thought you did it.”

“I didn’t do it…”

“Well, I didn’t do it either.”

They were glaring at each other when Dad walked in.

“What’s up?” he asked, concerned at the glaring faces of his wife and child.

“We are having a disagreement over who needs to clean up that mess on the counter!”

“Oh Gosh!” Dad said, “You two don’t have to clean up for me! I just ran to get my phone because I’m waiting for a call.”

Mom and Jared looked at each other and then burst out laughing.

Dad just stood there confused, as usual.
