Here I will talk about some curiosities that maybe you don't know about this series. |
Note: I advice to read this article after watching Once Upon a Time. 1) Our charming Captain Hook was originally supposed to appear only for one season, but, since he was quite successful with the public, they decided to keep him permanently. 2) If you think Snow White and Prince Charming are a really cute couple, it's because they really are. The two actors, Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas, got engaged in 2012 and got married two years later. (I want to add that Ginnifer Goodwin gave her voice to Judy from Zootopia) 3) For the character of Rumpelstiltskin, the producers thought the actor Robert Carlyle for that character already during the writing of the plot, even if they were not sure that he would accept it. Thank heavens he did. 4) Unlike Robert Carlyle, Lady Gaga was approached to offer her the role of the Blue Fairy but she never gave her response. (What do you think if Lady Gaga became the Blue Fairy?) 5) In the beginning of the story the narrator tell that Storybrooke is in the Maine. This may ruin the magic for you, but the town of Storybrooke is not in Maine. The TV series was actually filmed in the town of Steveston, Canada, and the surrounding forests. 6) Colin O'Donoghue, the actor who plays Captain Hook, was also the guitarist of the band The Enemies, a folk rock band. (In May 2013, he announced he was leaving the band due to the filming schedule of Once Upon a Time.) 7) Tony Amendola, the actor who plays Geppetto is Italian-American, and in the series he speaks Italian sometimes. More than fitting, I'd say. (Even Giancarlo Esposito, the Magic Mirror, is Italian-American) 8) The wardrobe of Once Upon a Time is one of the most expensive in the world of TV series, but we knew this a little because many of the costumes are crazy: from Regina's dresses, each more beautiful than the last and all in silk and cashmere, to Belle who showed off designer coats, and obviously our Mr. Gold, who, like the great gentleman he is, wore all the suits designed by Dolce & Gabbana. Fun fact the designer who made Hook's jackets also made Emma's. Basically, those two were meant to be together. 9) If you thought there was some chemistry between Emma and Jefferson, the Mad Hatter, it's because the two actors, Jennifer Morrison and Sebastian Stan, were engaged. 10) The creators of Once Upon a Time are the same as Lost, in fact both series rely a lot of on the use of flashbacks, and some actors were taken from the cast of Lost. Like George Garcia, Emilie de Ravin and even Lana Parrilla. 11) There was a sort of chronological error in some flashbacks in the Enchanted Forest, the fairy tales are set in about 1300, but sometimes a guillotine appeared for executions, invented during the French Revolution. 12) Baelfire, the real name of Neal Cassidy, or Rumplestiltskin's son, is an ancient Celtic term that indicates a large fire, a bonfire used to celebrate a joyful event (especially during the Beltane festival). Kind of indicating that he is a beacon of light for his father who is lost in his own darkness. Not for nothing, we often see him trying to convince his father to make the right choice. Did you know some of this? Do you know something else that I didn't mentioned here? I would like to have your opinion. Until next time. |
