Talking

“Are you kidding me?”

“Don’t be silly, that’s Daddy’s job.”

“What?!”

“Making kids, what Mommy’s and Daddy’s do? That’s what you told me when Brennan was born.”

“Right. But right now, I'm talking about your messy room.”

“What mess?”

“Your clothes are strewn across the room…”

“I didn’t strewn anything! Is that like cooking? I know I can’t cook unless I’m with you! I didn’t strewn!”

“No Honey, strewn means thrown all over the place. Like…”

“I didn’t strewn them! I was just looking for something.”

“Well, your clothes got off the hangers and on the floor even if they weren’t strewn… “

“Because I kept forgetting which ones I looked at already.”

“Why didn’t you just leave them on the rack and slide the one you looked at over, then look at the next one?”

“Pfffft”

“What’s funny?”

“I can’t reach the top of the hangers!”

“Oh…”

“You told me not to stand on a chair unless there was a “dult” with me.”

“Yes, I did, didn’t I. Maybe next time you need to do that you could ask me, or Dad, to help, or to bring you a chair.”

“That would be nice!”

“So, what were you looking for?”

“What?”

“The clothes, what were you looking for?”

“A fairy dress.”

“A fairy dress? Do you have a fairy dress?”

“I don’t know, that’s why I was looking.”

“Good plan. Ooh, I think I have to go in the kitchen for a minute.” Mom left.

Walking into the kitchen she was still laughing.

“What’s up,” said Dad.

“Your daughter is looking for something.”

“And it’s funny?”

“You had to be there. Matter of fact, why don’t you go in and find out yourself!”

“OK…”

Ten minutes later he came back, laughing himself.

It was a good day.
