Two theives get "Santa'd" 300 words |
The Santa Squad “Somebody is watching us.” “Where?” asked Parker Rick gave a jerk of his head to the left. Parker looked the other way as he whispered. “You’re nervous about Santa! He’s too fat to chase us. Let’s get to Christmas ‘shopping’, you jerk!” Rick went one way, Parker went another. Rick began checking out the expensive watches and jewelry, when a feeling made him look around. “Another Santa? How many does one store need?” he muttered darkly. He moved on to another department in the store with relief. Parker was examining the top end menswear trying to decide what he could hide successfully on his person. He got a creeping feeling that made him look to the far end of the aisle he was on. “What’s with all the Santas in this place?” he asked himself. He turned to exit from the other end of the aisle, only to see yet another Santa moving toward him. He was trapped! That night after closing, a group of Santas of all sizes met in the mall manager’s office. “Well, how did it go, boys?” he asked. Removing their hats, beards and wigs to reveal sweating faces, the group of police known as the Santa Squad let him know what a big success the day was. “We caught 20 groups trying to rip you off and confiscated their respective hauls. Very successful operation, I’d say,” the roundest Santa aka Fraud Squad head, Nickolas Winter told him as he wiped his brow. “Let’s go boys before we all melt in these costumes,” he announced as they put on topcoats over them to go back to the station. The manager smiled. “See you on Christmas Eve!” he called after them in a hearty voice. He got no answer as they were already gone. |
