Daily challenges are the norm for Daniel.
Daniel

My son was born like any other child,
Never a burden or a problem; not the least bit wild.
He played, romped, and acted silly,
When you saw him, he was pretty average, really.

When the time came to go to preschool,
He learned quickly and retained; this was a prequel.
As he advanced through the years,
We noticed something different, not like his peers.

We received a call from the school administration,
His personality was different; he suffered fragmentation.
After tests and careful study by medical personnel,
My son's mind worked differently, like a carousel.

After much debate and discussion, he has Aspergers Syndrome,
I am to blame for his behavior, as I carried the genome.
Social awkwardness, restrictive thinking, and behavior,
He excelled in his studies; however, friends disappeared like magic erasers.

The difficulty arises for him quite frequently,
Strangers and family, he treats equally.
Seldom does he hug or shake someone's hand,
When placed in that situation, it is strictly planned.
