As a child, I remember gathering with the family to pray at Diwali (Winner, Cramp!)
At Diwali, the lights shine bright
To guide the Goddess through the night
She heaps blessings on each family
Health, wealth, happiness, to live peacefully.

As a child, my memories
Like lamps that flicker in the breeze
Let me tell you what we did
When I was but a little kid

In the morning, we gathered to pray
To thank the books that help us each day
Children brought out books from school
Adults - the account books that rule!

Yes, we worship books at Diwali
We consider learning and business holy.
We thank the pages upon which we write
And ask of God that the next year be bright.

Then it was off to feasting and fun
Diwali treats for everyone!
Dressed in new, shiny clothes
We celebrated with those we love most.

Diwali falls close to Halloween
Treats, without tricks is what it means!
And it's about Thanksgiving
And looking at a new beginning.
