Business As Usual

Gregor Yanov, the newest and most innovative conductor from Russia, eyed the mass of journalists from the top of the stage.

“What a horde of hacks,” he whispered to his assistant.

“What about the blonde third from the left, she’s a looker!” he whispered back.

Casually, Gregor looked where he’d indicated. She was tall and well built. Her eyes were lavender and her lips full and luscious.

She dressed a little revealingly, but with her figure, why not? The conductor smiled warmly at her, careful to look in her eyes as he did so. She smiled back encouragingly.

“Any more questions?”

The blonde held up a well-manicured finger. The assistant called on her.

“Gardinia Centros, “All There to Know About the Classics...”

Yanov spoke in his assistant’s ear.

“The maestro says he’s not familiar with that publication.

“It’s a podcast.”

Gregor shook his head at the answer.

“Get with the times, Mr. Yanov. Be a guest on my podcast. Unless you’re not a conductor at all...”

“It’s none of your business,” the conductor burst out in heavily accented English. Gardinia grinned as if she’d hit the spot she’d wanted to.

“Come on, we can bring in a translator if you prefer to speak in your native tongue,” she coaxed.

The volatile conductor grew red as his fury built.

“Security, remove this agitator from the room,” the assistant demanded.

The podcaster went limp to make it hard for them to remove her. She began shouting:

“Freedom of Information. The people deserve to know. What is the Russian hiding?”

Finally, they got her outside and held her there under protest. After some fast talking, Gardinia was allowed to leave.

“Perfect. Tomorrow’s podcast will be an eyeopener. Popular conductor may be a spy,” should get me a lot more followers.”
