What happens when the Grimm Reaper no longer wants his job? Story idea here. |
It happens all over the world every day. The Grimm Reaper is minding his own business when he gets notified he has to work. He is sick and tired of being who he is. What would happen if he ignored the message? How would that go over? Nobody liked him and it has been forever since he went on vacation or even had a date. Would you want to date the Grimm Reaper? Suppose he showed up at your front door and knocked with his scythe. You open up and he is standing in a long moldy robe covering up his skeletal body. What do you say to him? What would he say to you? "Hi, there Mr. Jones. Is Amy ready for our date? She might be home before Sunrise or not." He does not say another word. Do you invite him inside or slam the door in his face? You are afraid to be face to face with him now and, you know someday he might be coming for you to take you away. Would you want him to be mad at you? I think he could hold a grudge for a long, long time. With his past work history Grimm of course goes to work, but it does not mean he has to like it. In an instant, he vaporizes and reappears across the world. This time it is Paris, near the Eiffel Tower. Some old man had a bad heart and it finally gave out on him. Grimm reaches down and touches the body with his scythe. A ghostly image of the old man appears to stare down at his own body. Phantom tears rolls down his face. He mutters, "I was not ready to go." Grimm looks at him and responds, "Nobody is ever ready. Come on we have a trip to take." "Where am I going?" "Does it matter now?" The old man looked up at Grimm and shrugged his shoulders, " I guess not." They both fade away as if they were never there in the first place. Soon they are standing before the Gates of Heaven and the old man breaks down crying. He did not think he would end up here, but mighty glad that he did. They open and a glowing presence is before them. It is pure Spirit and it asks the old man in a hollow booming voice . "Are you sorry for your past sins? Would you change your life if you could?" "Of course I would. " " |
