My sister, caught in a mouse trap

My sister, a mouse caught in a trap,
Eyes of fury and reddened rims

Glaring, glaring and glaring,
The silver serpent’s words echo in her ears,
Handsome charm and delicious speech

Her speech though, garbled and restrained as the silk flaps,
My sister, a fish on a hook,

The fisherman, tall and slick,
His words float like air in and into the brain,

There is pain and loathing in her eyes,
And in mine,

My sister, a victim of the time.
