Fangs and Fate

CHAPTER 1

"Emma let's go, it's time to get up, you're going to be late for the first day of college." Mom shouted up the stairs. I rolled over to far and fell off my bed shit oww "Coming," I replied I get off the floor and pick out the cutest outfit ever my skater dress with the laces in the front and my dark red converse after I chose my outfit I picked out my small black bookbag and my large black book bag after I was done I hit the shower after I got out I looked in the mirror what to do with my hair I'm so glad I chose blue and a black ombre it went well with my pale skin. An idea came to my mind so I grabbed my curling iron and curled my bangs and threw the rest of my hair in a ponytail. I threw on some red lipstick and mascara and laced up the shoes to make sure everything was packed and ready to go to college. I have been waiting for this day forever, finally a college for vampires and hunters. I'm so glad we can finally coexist. On my way out of my room I looked at an old picture of me and my childhood best friend Alex. I missed him after his parents passed. He disappeared. I always hoped we would see each other again. I took the picture and put it in my small book bag to take with me. I give my room one last look before I go. "Mom?" When I got downstairs I couldn't find her at first but I found her in her room "mom?" I saw her looking at dad's picture. He passed from cancer a few years ago. "Your father would have been so proud of you." she said with tears in her eyes I leaned down and gave her the biggest hug ever " I know mom I wish he was with us too." I said she grabbed my hand and said "Alright let's go I don't want you to be late." She said so we loaded up the car and left. The only thing that I dread about my college was how far it was, it was five hours in helzberg and I lived in the cityside of helzberg but my college was in the countryside of Helzberg. The whole way me and my mom were singing along to our favorite songs and some of the songs made me miss my father because during our trips he always made up songs with words that would even make an old grumpy grandfather laugh. "We're here." My mother sounded cheerful. I looked outside the school. It was huge and the grounds looked magical like from a dream. All the parking spaces were full so my mom dropped me off at the drop off. There were so many people both hunters and vampires, "watch out!" a boy yelled from behind me I wasn't able to move out of the way in time he bumped into me dropping all of his books " Oh I am so sorry I didn't see you." I immediately bent down to help him pick up his books when something caught my eye. The same picture that I have of my childhood friend Alex. After I helped him pick up all his books I finally asked "Hey, your name is Alex right?" I said looking him in the eyes "Yeah how did you know."he said looking very agitated " You don't recognize me do you?" I was surprised that he didn't recognize me. "It's me Emma." I said pulling out the picture of me and him when we were younger and showed him. His face changed from angry to a mix of happiness "Emma, wow I can't believe it's you, look at you ms used to be all pink everything to a total skater girl outfit I mean your hair you dyed it what happened to your blonde hair and pigtails." he said "Oh Emma there you are and who is this boy?" Mom asked, "Mom, this is Alex." My mom looked shocked "no way this is little toy train Alex." my mom said I think he felt embarrassed but he nodded his head " Yes mrs.Huston it's me where's mr. huston?" Alex asked looking puzzled, me and mom looked at each other then looked back at Alex. I told Alex that my father passed away a few years ago from cancer. Alex looked at us and said "I'm so sorry I wish I knew." I felt anger rise up but I was able to push it back down "well, Emma, Alex let's head inside before you two are late for orientation." Mom said after we made our way to the auditorium. When we got there I saw vampires and hunters mixed. I feel like this school is going to change everything. We found three empty seats, one for each of us. When we got there I saw the headmaster and he was so cute with his black hair and icy blue eyes but than another headmaster came out he had a scar on his eye no doubt that he's a hunter the first headmaster said " Good morning boy and girls, vampires and hunters I am you vampire headmaster Mr.Rails I want to congratulate all of you, you have finished your time at highschool and now here is your biggest challenge of all college. Mrs. Hudson and I want to welcome you all and we are happy to have you all to join our Helzberg warriors family now a few words from my colleague Mr Hudson. Mrs Rails handed the mic to Mr.Hudson "Good morning student as you all know we are have vampires and hunters together if there will be any hunting or killing you will be expelled and you clans will be made aware so with that being said I hope you all have something nice to wear because we know this was not mentioned in your letters but there will be a dance tonight at eight o'clock dinner will be severed at that time as well please we encourage all of you to come meets your upperclassmen and each other, one more thing curfew is at midnight on weekends and eleavan on weeknight anyone who breaks the curfew rules will be suspended for three days max I hope you all can follow the rules and I look forward to seeing you all at the dance with that being said orientation is over please when you exist you will find your class schedule thank you for your time." he said and they both walked of the stage and left. Alex helped me and mom unload my suitcases because mom had to go back to the city earlier than she wanted to but she hugged us both and left. Me and alex brought my thing to my room after he dropped my stuff off he went to his room a part of me wanted to ask him why he left but I didn't I just said thank you and he went on his way as open my door to my room I don't see my roommate but as I putting the last of my clothes away there was a knock on my door I opened "thank you." A girl said walking into the room when she walked past me my senses went off great she was a vampire and she was beautiful she had green eyes with purple hair. "Can you help me please." "Yeah, let me grab the suitcase so you can see." I grabbed it and put it on her bed. She was able to put the rest of her bags down. She reached out her hand. I shook her hand and she smiled and said "my name is Luna what's yours?" I repealed "Emma." " I can't believe I am meeting a hunter." "I can't believe I'm roommates with a vampire." "Omg I love your outfit." Luna said "thanks I love your outfit too." She was wearing a dress with pink lace in the front and a darker shade flowy skirt. " Hey Luna, I need your help." I said I couldn't pick between my sleeveless baby blue mini dress with lace in the front or my red rhinestone lace knee high dress. I showed Luna both but her face changed from happy to sad "What's wrong Luna?" I put the dress in my hand down and went to her looking concerned she said that she forgot to bring her favorite dress and that she lived in the city so I told her she can borrow my baby blue one with that my dress was chosen for me she thanked me with an hug and she promised to do my make-up and I would her's and her hair she was so happy. She put a deep pink lipstick and put fake lashes they weren't too long or short just right than she straighten and curled the ends now it was my turn to do her make-up and hair for the make-up I did nude color for her eyes I curled her eyelashes and put on a light purple to make her eyes stand out more "Omg Emma thank you so much ." she said jumping up and down " I'm not done yet" I said as I grabbed a pair of dark blue heels and gave them to her "thank you so much I really appreciate you." "aww no problem, I'm happy I could help." I gave her a big hug. I chose my favorite black boots. Luna grabbed my hand and said "Let's go and dance!" I made sure to grab my keys to the room we made our way to the gym once we got there we went our separate ways I looked for one person in particular but I couldn't find him while looking for him I hit someone's chest I almost fell but they caught me I looked up and it was Alex "we got to stop meeting like this." he said "Oh just the person I was looking for." I said with a smile "Oh, really because I was looking for you too I wanted to ask you something but it's too loud." my heart skipped a beat as he finished. "Okay, Alex I have to ask why you left, you were my best friend and you left why." I asked because I needed closure. He looked at me like he would someone that he cares for "Let's go outside and we can talk. There's too many people and noise and you know how much I'm trying not to kill these bloodsuckers." I nodded my head and we left to go outside. "Okay so tell me why you left. I think as your best friend I deserve an answer." I said with a little anger rising inside of me. He looked at me and said "Emma look what I'm going to say you can't tell anybody even our clan master because I could face expulsion or even exile. After the vampire killed my parents he told me that I was chosen for another life as a vampire." He said I looked at him in disbelief. I forced a laugh and said "Good one Alex but stop lying to me and even if you're a vampire you know we have chills when they are near and I have no chills near you so stop lying to me!" I felt tears coming ahead "Emma please you've got to believe me." I took a deep breath and said " I don't believe you Alex if you really are a vampire." I paused. I grabbed a sharp rock to my wrist and cut it and I said " If you really are a vampire then drink." I said he didn't say anything I saw his eyes go from blue and a bright red he moved to fast for my eyes to track him it wasn't until I felt teeth biting into my skin I screamed in pain I think I passed out I woke up in the infirmary with Luna sitting by my side and the bite was completely healed.

CHAPTER 2

The next day during the first day of school Alex disappeared. He was nowhere to be found. I needed to find him. I called him and texted but he never answered. My fear of losing him was rising in my chest. I can't lose him again, I lost him for so many years. After school I went to his dorm room hoping he was there. When I got there his roommate answered damn was he hot and muscular with his blond hair and gray eyes he told me his name was Jake and that Alex left a couple minutes ago for a walk I thanked him and he wished me luck and with that I went on Alex hunt I went to courtyard from there I went to the fields all five of them but still no sign of him anywhere but I remembered that he always go into the woods to just get some quiet. I remembered him telling me about a spot he found with a huge rock near a creek I don't even know these woods but I needed to find him I need to tell him how awful I feel for baiting him like that after an hour walking threw the woods I reached the area he told me about it was beautiful the creek was so clear. I found him sitting on the rock crying as I made my way over to him.He didn't even give me a chance before he said "Leave Emma I want to be alone." I let out a sigh "I'm here because I want to talk to you about last night." I paused to make sure my emotions where in check "I can't tell you how awful I feel I thought you were trying to play me, look after you left I was destroyed I lost the one person in world who was like the other half of my heart I couldn't tell you how many birthday wishes I've made to see you again I've cried myself to sleep because I've been missing you so much you have no idea what went threw my head." I said, trying not to cry. I climbed on the rock and sat by him as he moved away from me. He finally looked at me "you're not going to leave are you?" I shook my head and he let out a small laugh "that's never going to change is it you're never going just leave me are you?" he asked but it sounded like a plea to not leave him. I looked at him and said, "You know I'm not going anywhere." I grabbed his hand and squeezed it in reinsurance. He looked at me with a smile and said " How am I so lucky to have a best friend like you." I gave him a playful push and said "I don't know you just are I guess alright let's head back so I can put jeans on." He let out a huge laugh and said "Aww, poor Emma still hates skirts." He said playfully I hit his shoulder softly and said "Let's go mister toy trains." He just laughed again and got up. We talked the whole way back while on our walk back it hit me the weekend was coming up. "Alex, we should explore the town this weekend." He sighed knowing that I would beg him to go explore ever since we were kids "Fine I'll come with you." he said in defeat "Yes! Thank you" I hugged him. We got back to the school and on the first step I tripped Alex threw himself under me so I didn't hit the concrete I land on top of him practically kissing him in the middle on me getting up but it was too late someone had to have seen us great the one rumor we always tried to be careful of the dating kind. The rest of the week me and Alex couldn't even talk about what happened at the dance. Finally at lunch Alex and I decided to have lunch on the roof. Alex has been down about this whole situation time to make him laugh "Alex this all your fault he turned around and said "my fault?! If you watched where you were going we wouldn't be in this mess so no Emma it's your fault." he tone was harshed I flinched at his words " Okay calm down I was kidding, I'm sorry." I said sitting down next to him he looked at me and said "I just think if I can't talk to you as my best friend when everyone else thinks that you're my girlfriend it's just frustrating." After he said that an idea came to my head "Alex?" I called him and he looked at me "Okay hear me out what if we make them think that we are dating and wait a month for a fake break-up and after we wait for a week and we tell them that we're best friends." I said hoping to give him some light in this shitty situation he stands up and walks over to me "Okay one flaw in your plan you realize I would have to hold your hand and kiss you and be super protective." I took a deep breath to regain confidence. "Okay I can handle that but first thing tomorrow is Saturday and we need matching outfits ." As soon as I said that Alex groaned and rolled his eyes "Okay so jeans black." "Okay you chose the color top." I told Alex "Really why me?"He whined like a big baby. "Just do it." I told him he rolled his eyes again "Fine teal." He said. I had the cutest korean cut off the shoulder floral print "umm color shoes dark red converse." I said he nodded in agreement. The rest of the day went smoothly we eat dinner and planned for tomorrow

CHAPTER 3

"Emma!" Luna yelled, shaking me "Get up Alex is here."she said my eyes opened wide. I looked at the time "shit!" I yelled as I jumped out of bed. I took a five minute shower and brushed my hair. I decided to leave it down. The only problem was my bangs so I curled them. Then I threw on my black skinny jeans and my korean square cut floral crop top and grabbed socks and laced up my converse made sure I had my phone,wallet and keys "Thanks Luna for waking me up." I gave her a quick hug and headed out the door. As soon as I opened the door Alex was there in ripped black jeans with a teal t-shirt and a black leather jacket he looked up from his phone "Look who finally woke up." I rolled my eyes at his comment, "How long have you been here?" I asked. He checked the time and said "Ten minutes." I shook my head "You look great Alex." He laughed, "Thanks Emma, you look good too." We took a picture together and posted it. within the hour it was blowing up with likes and comments "Alex look." I showed him my phone "What the fuck." he sound surprised "Emma your mom commented too!" he said pointing to what she wrote knew this was coming from best friends to lovers I wish you two the best " I thought you told her Em." He said he also called me Em. He hasn't called me that since we were kids. I missed him calling me Em "why did you call me Em you've haven't called me that since we were kids." He looked at me like a deer in headlights. "Umm, I don't know it just came out, I didn't mean to make you upset to be honest." the way he said it sounded like he didn't care "No it's fine." I said to reassure that I wasn't mad at him. I wanted to tell him that it made me happy to hear my old nickname but I couldn't get the words out at all it was like I had feelings for him no way I have a crush on my best friend not on Alex he's a vampire I would be executed if my clan found out not mention my Mom would be so upset and my Dad would be rolling over in his grave I felt panic rise in my chest this time I could push it down. My heart started racing then I started hyperventilating "Emma!" Alex yelled as he rushed to my side. "Hey look at me." He said I did as I was told he grabbed my hands and told me to squeeze his. I did this for five minutes. After that I was calm. I pretended that nothing happened. "Emma what's going on with you." He asked for the tenth time in the span of three minutes I needed to keep lying to him. I said once again "Nothing, I'm fine."
