A part in my book.
Rowan stood at the edge of the cliff, the wind whipping her hair into a wild frenzy. Below, the ocean stretched out in shades of blue and green, its surface rippled by a gentle breeze. It was the cusp of autumn, a time of transition, a season of change.
As a herbalist, Rowan had always been deeply connected to the natural world. She believed that the cycles of nature mirrored the cycles of human life. Spring was a time of rebirth and renewal, summer a season of growth and abundance, and winter a time of introspection and rest. But it was autumn, with its vibrant colors and crisp air, that held a special place in her heart.
Rowan closed her eyes and breathed deeply, filling her lungs with the salty sea air. She could feel the energy of the season coursing through her veins, a sense of anticipation and excitement. It was time to let go of the old and embrace the new, to shed the layers of the past and reveal the essence of who she was becoming.
"Change is the only constant," Rowan whispered to herself, quoting a famous philosopher. She had heard that phrase countless times, but it had never resonated with her as deeply as it did now.
As she walked back to her cottage, Rowan reflected on the changes that had taken place in her own life. She had recently ended a long-term relationship, a painful experience that had left her feeling lost and alone. But as the seasons had turned, she had begun to find her way again. She had discovered new passions, made new friends, and rediscovered her love for nature.
"Every ending is a new beginning," Rowan thought, quoting another wise saying. She realized that the end of her relationship had been necessary in order for her to start a new chapter in her life.
As she tended to her garden, Rowan noticed that the flowers were beginning to wilt and die. It was a natural part of the cycle of life, but it still made her feel a pang of sadness. She knew that the garden would bloom again in the spring, but for now, it was time to let it rest.
In that moment, Rowan understood that the changing of the seasons was not just about the natural world. It was also about the changes that take place within ourselves. Just as the garden needed time to rest and rejuvenate, so too did she.
Rowan decided to take a break from her work as a herbalist. She packed a small bag and set off on a journey of self-discovery. She hiked through the mountains, meditated by the river, and spent time in solitude, reflecting on her life and her goals.
As the days turned into weeks, Rowan began to feel a sense of peace and clarity. She realized that she was not defined by her past or her relationships. She was a unique and beautiful individual, with her own strengths and weaknesses.
When Rowan returned home, she felt refreshed and rejuvenated. She was ready to embrace the new season of her life with open arms. She knew that there would be challenges ahead, but she was confident that she could face them with courage and resilience.
As Rowan stood on her porch, watching the leaves fall from the trees, she felt a deep sense of gratitude. She was grateful for the beauty of the natural world, for the lessons she had learned, and for the journey of self-discovery that had brought her to this point.
"The only constant in life is change," Rowan repeated to herself. This time, she said it with a smile, a knowing smile that said she was ready for whatever the future held.
