The Morphs

Part 1: The Deprived Innocence

After the death of my wife, the responsibility of my sons, Willy and Johny, all by myself, providing them necessities and making them feel loved. Yes, it was a little difficult for me to maintain, but, I had to do it somehow, after all, I was the one responsible for it.

One night, as I tucked them into bed, turned off the lights and was about to leave, Willy called out to me, saying that he saw something staring at him through the closet, he was shivering as if he saw something that he should not have. When I went to the closet, I saw that it was closed. They both rose from the bed, still shaking with fear while looking at the closet.

I was a bit confused, but to reassure their hearts, I opened the closet and I saw as I expected, nothing. "See? There's nothi-" My voice waned and my eyes grew wide as I saw their innocent faces turning out an eerie smile and their eyes turning black. I stood their frozen with my eyes tearing up and my hands shaking as their eyes popped out, and their skin tore open, revealing their raw flesh. Soon, they turned into grotesque monster.

I stood still with my eyes wide open as they slowly walked towards me. When they were about to jump on me, I pushed them and ran outside the room. I quickly ran to my room and grabbed my shotgun and went back to their room.

I pointed the gun at them. But something was preventing me from pulling the trigger, maybe my immense love for them. I sighed as I dropped the gun and sat on my knees, crying my eyes out when I heard a whisper in my ears, "You are responsible for it."

My heart stopped; it was my wife's voice. Her voice was scornful, low and sad. I reproached myself as I realized that I made a huge mistake by killing her.
