short poem
Ode to a dead deer on the road.
Traffic today, blood cells in a vein
Stuck to a path, reminiscent of a train
Flowing and pushing, task is at hand
With a course predetermined, metal and manned
With an attitude of no interference
Hands to the wheel with forced adherence
The chimerical timer was running and set
And the ersatz deadline had to be met
An uninvited guest, provided a deterrent
A bug on the window, a course in errant
Life is so fragile, and yellow and green
The damn windshield wiper, can't get it clean
Another wandering animal; that hailed from the bucolic
Decided to cross, then to gambol and frolic
The car one space forward, kinetic-energy led
Hit the deer sideways, and gave it to the dead.
