We were young and new to the married life,
When we first met, I was your soulmate, and you were mine.
Some people would not accept I was your wife,
Or understand when I claimed you as mine, as our souls intertwine.          


Time passed, as did judgment regarding who we were to have a love so true,
We began receiving threats and warnings about our lives and our unnatural love.
It didn't matter what church we belonged to or every weekend we sat in the same pew,
People saw what they feared most: two females living a life as pure as snow-white doves.
