Trigger Warning - Domestic Violence - A poem about the lies my PTSD tells me.
There is a liar
Whispering in my ear
Every moment, every day

“You aren’t good enough;
Not pretty enough;
Not smart enough.”

Stupid clumsy girl.

“You deserve the screaming…
A beating…
A broken heart…
A lonely life.”

“He’ll never stay.
They’ll all go away.
Stupid, clumsy girl.

“Don't believe me?”
Taunts the liar
“Here.. listen..replay…”
The words of my abuser

They echo in my head
Those words long dead
Hallucinating
Dissociating

“You’ll never be better.
Never be good enough.
Too much trouble
For damaged goods.

There is a liar
Whispering in my ear
Every moment, every day

I’m hallucinating
And dissociating
The unending bullshit
PTSD
The liar in my ear
