A poem about the legendary creature that haunted the minds of Norse sailors.
The Kraken

The morning was dull
With fog all around
He crouched, picked a stone
from the cold hard ground

Flung into the water
With all his might
The rock hit the surface
And sank out of sight

He sat there and gazed
As the ripples fell silent
But then came a BOOM
From the depths so violent

He sprang to his feet,
What magic is this?
When turning to run
He fell with a twist

He yelled and hollered
But to fall on deaf ears
The fjord was vast
Abandoned for years

For the folks tell tales
Words of a great beast
That would rise from the depths
Whenever to feast

The water boiled
And thrived with pain
Awoke the monster
That could not be slain

He lay gripped with terror
He could only watch
As a tree trunk thick tentacle
Climbed over the rocks

Wrapped around his boot
It pulled him away
Down to the depths
Where the Krakens lay
