The Car Episode “Lexingtown Police, what can I help you with today?” “They stole my car.” “Someone stole your car?” “Yes!” “Can I have your name please?” “Margery West.” “And where are you right now, Miss West…?” “In my house.” “Are you safe? Is anyone else there?” “No, I’m alone, me and the cat.” “And you your car has been stolen? Did you see someone take it?” “No! It’s gone! I got ready to go to the store and it’s gone!” “Stay calm. Let’s get more information. Did you lend it to anyone?" “No.” “And the car was in the driveway the last time you noticed?” “Yes! It’s always in the driveway. I don’t have a garage" “Tell me about the car.” “It’s a lovely car, it’s just perfect for me.” “No, I mean the make and model. We have to know what kind of car it is so we can help you find it.” “Oh, silly me! It’s a Chevy, it’s blue… it’s a little old… I had to bring it to the shop because it was not starting well… Oh!” “Oh?” “I just remembered, it’s still in the shop! It’s not stolen at all! I just forgot to pick it up after they fixed it! I’ll go over right now!” “Very good, can you get yourself to the repair shop?” “Oh yes, it’s just down the street. Oh! I can see my car from here!” “Very good. Well, have a great day.” “Thank you!” “Who was that?” Ben asked, as Reggie hung up the phone. “It was your mother, she lost her car again.” “Is it in the shop, again?” “Yes…" “Honestly, I would get her a better car in a minute! If only they sold nineteen fifty-five Chevys, that actually run… for a price that I could afford!” |
