Cake it is!

John walked into the kitchen, stopping short at the door. The kitchen looked like it had been hit by a tornado. In the middle of the whirlwind was his wife Jacky. She also looked like she had been hit by the same tornado, yet she was standing there, seemingly calm, reading a book.

“Jac?” he said, softly, are you alright?”

She looked up, “Yes,” she said, “Why are you asking?”

“Ah…” he sputtered, waving his hand around the kitchen,

“Things got a little out of control…” she said, still calmly.

“What were you trying to do here?” he asked.

“Make a pie,” she answered.

“Honey,” he said, “you don’t cook.”

“Well, I thought a pie would be different, you know baking.”

“No, baking is cooking… Why did you decide to try baking?”

“It wasn’t my idea.”

“What?”

“This wasn’t my idea. I thought baking was cooking too, but your sister assured me that baking was a lot easier.”

“It’s not.”

“I know that now.”

“So, why are you still looking at the cookbook?”

“I’m trying to find the ‘how to dispose of failures’ section.”

“They don’t put that in cookbooks.”

“Why not?”

“Because people don’t usually buy a cookbook unless they really want to cook. And people who really want to cook, do cook.”

“Oh,” she said, closing the book and dropping it in the waste basket. “I’ll clean this up.”

“And…”

“I’ll leave the cooking, and baking to you.”

“That’s my girl! I’ll help you clean, and then I’ll make us a pie!”

“No, I don’t think I want to see another pie for a while…”

“Cake it is!” John said, happily!
