What are we searching for?
Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star -
From whence have you come?
Where shall you go?
What shall I find at the end of our travels?

Onward I go, following your lead -
What destination awaits my arrival?
And what destiny shall begin?
I long for answers only you can give.

My companions and I look for refuge
In the palace of a king.
He knows not of the star we follow
But wants information, most ungraciously.

What we find at the end of our journey-
A Babe slumbering next to His mother.
All of this - for that?
Politely, we give our gifts to Him.

As we bunk down for the night,
We have a dream, most clear;
We are not to talk again with the king,
For he has malicious thoughts indeed.

With joy in our hearts, unspeakable joy -
We return to our own country.
Knowledge of our discovery safe,
Resting in the arms of His mother.

Prompt for Writer's Cramp for Jan 6th 2023

January 6th is the Feast of the Epiphany ... probably most familiar to the majority of readers as the day commemorating the visit of the Wise Men (or Magi). (As in the Christmas Carol, "We three kings of Orient are.")

The story of the star inspired, among other works, Arthur C. Clarke's Hugo-award-winning short story "The Star" .

Write your own poem or story in which the main character(s) are being guided by an astronomical event (be it the Star of Bethlehem or something else). What are they seeking? Why? What do they find?
