even in Florida
as nights lengthen and the dark beckons.
Harriet, and her mate, long-paired eagles
rebuilt the nest that Ian destroyed.
There is an egg,
by Christmas a fledgling.
A new nativity,
an ancient incarnation,
a winter miracle.
