The Messy Room

Sitting alone in my messy, but quiet room, I started taking stock of my life. What was I doing? Was I on the right track? Was this going to work?

I take a deep breath. That’s funny. I realize I’m starting to act like I’m in a movie. I guess it is kind of a movie, just really my screwed up life.

If, however, it were a movie... what would happen next? I’d be the main character, sitting here doing, what? Pining over a confused love relationship? Nah...

Maybe this wouldn’t be my room, maybe I’ve been kidnapped! Ah... too scary if for money, and I’d need to be rich. And then too, I wouldn’t actually be the main character!

So why am I here in this messy room? Searching for clues? A detective! Looking for evidence! Evidence of... Well, evidence! I’m just the actress!

“This is a strange place.” I say looking around, as the actress would, in the movie... Unfortunately, she would be right. This is a strange place. Maybe if I cleaned up a bit, I could have friends over. Maybe, if I could have friends over, I’d make some real friends. Maybe if I had friends, I would be able to talk to people who could help me figure out if this was a good path to take.

But what if they don’t like me?

For crying out loud, you’re a grown-up! I yell at myself. Clean up this dump! Invite people over! Just try for once! So I did.

Six months later, I’m having the time of my life! I see friends every day, we do wonderful things together, and for the first time in my life, I feel happy and carefree!

I guess Addy’s Nursing Home was a good choice after all...
