A Very Nasty Day

The lizard stood looking at me with giant yellow eyes. I froze in the bathtub, a million thoughts going through my head. Where would a lizard have come from? How fast can it move? Do they bite?

After a few minutes of this standoff, I took a deep breath, and very slowly stood up. My towel was a short reach away, but in the direction of the lizard. Would it take my move as dangerous, me escaping? Me, of course assuming he was sizing me up for lunch. That made me laugh, I was a giant to the beast! He (or she?) was only about four inches tall, I was over five feet! Of course I had very bare, thin skin, compared to the lizard’s thick scaly coat.

Where would a lizard have come from? Yes, it was obvious I didn’t get the door latched correctly, but I don’t usually have lizards in the house, or our yard... or our state, actually... Where would a lizard have come from?

I looked around thinking I could throw something to distract it. The lizard had not moved since I laid eyes on it. I had soap, but it was wet and slippery. Should I actually scare it away from the door I intended on bolting, a slippery floor would not help. I needed something dry and hard, like a coin, something to scare, or distract the thing while I escaped. No coins in the tub, Oh! But I had my wedding ring! I slipped it off and threw it at the lizard. I hit the thing right in the head! It didn’t even move. However, I heard some muffled giggling outside the bathroom door.

I believe my husband forgot that I hate practical jokes... he just won himself a very nasty day...
