Elm Street

“Hey!” Randy said, excited, “Look!”

Ken was hanging around with Randy for the first time. Arnold told him he needed to make friends in school. He wasn’t excited about it, but when Randy said “Let’s hang out tomorrow,” he figured, what did he have to lose?

They were walking to the ball field to watch the game, but Randy stopped in front of the house, excited. “It’s just an old house” Ken said, trying to change the subject. Let ‘s go, we have to be back by four.”

“This isn’t just any house. This is Elm Street, right?”

“I think so…” Ken said trying to sound casual.

“This place is haunted. I’m sure it’s the one. We have to go in!”

“It’s somebody’s house!” Ken said.

“It’s abandoned! Let’s see if we can get in!”

“That’s terrible!” Ken said, but Randy was already up opening the front door, which was not locked.

Ken followed, he had no choice, Randy was in the house.

As he walked through the front door, there was Randy, standing still, not moving.

“Are you OK?” Ken whispered.

Shaking a bit, Randy said, “I think I just saw a ghost…”

“Well,” Ken said loudly, “You’re the one who insisted I make friends!”

Arnold suddenly appeared in front of Randy, who fainted.

“I didn’t tell you to bring them home! Never mind, I’ll fix it. He won’t remember, and he won’t know you’re a ghost. Now scram!”

Suddenly both boys were at the ball field, Randy popped awake. “Did I fall asleep?” he said, embarrassed.

“I don’t know, I was watching the game…”

“I had the weirdest dream…” Randy said, suddenly looking at Ken suspiciously.

The friendship lasted years, but somehow, no matter how hard he tried, Randy could never seem to find Elm Street.
