This piece is just me; the me who still hopes to find a mother
Dear Mother in law

I last pronounced mom at 3 years
I miss it every day
I probably miss her more

The nights stars felt close
The joys of her laughter, a blanket
She was my mother

Pronounced mom again at 12 years later
Her clock ticked my name
Probably
She came by

A bundle of joy
In her arms she held
Where is my place?

In me, a stranger she saw
I saw one too

She moved on
But did I?
10 years, I nursed me
Silently

Did you miss me? my heart bled
Left immediately
A promise to return
Probably never

Her burial grounds
mystery to me
At least I know “where she is”

Only one memory of mom
The stars in the night

Dear mother in future mother-in-law
