Sheltered from the storm of reality
encouraged to be naive
she made it through her childhood years
and never thought nor could conceive
the world would be such an ugly place
where people sought out to deceive.
Thrown into that pit of dogs
in her young adult years
her mind was crushed by what she found
and she finally learned to fear.
She had to learn the hard way
with no one there to wipe her tears.
But a glimmer she held in her heart and soul
of whom she had once been
and there she escaped within her mind
over and over again.
She had found the strength in that little girl
to see life through to the end.
