the wheels on the bus
go round and round...
as I sleep curled
in my little seat
head on my school bag
and covered with my coat
the intermittent stop and go
lulls me into deeper slumber
I awaken at my final destination
groggily pull on my coat
and sling bag over shoulder
I let all of the smaller kids
get off the bus first
I'm in no hurry to get to class
but I make my entrance in time
and begin a new day of learning
just so I can make
the return trip home
and do it all again
on the morrow
