Marjorie laid back in the bed. She was exhausted. “I think I hate you,” she said to John.
“That’s a hateful thing to say to your husband.”
“Since I did all the work, how you can say that was easy, I’ll never know. You try pushing a bowling ball out a pinhole. If you can do that, then you can say it was easy.”
A nurse came in carrying a swaddled newborn. Marjorie took their baby, John sat on her bed.
“But I have totally forgiven you because this is the result.” Marjorie unwrapped the baby, lovingly touched each finger, each toe, kissed her forehead.
“I think she is beautiful. Just like her mother.” John smiled as he looked at the baby. He then kissed Marjorie.
