There is beauty in your parched perfection

seas of sand shifting in the blowing wind
ripples of heat rising from sun-soaked dunes
the world seems brighter here, somehow more clear
flora and fauna wondrously evolved
vibrant flowers sit atop needled cushions
intoxicating scents waft from desert blooms
dark nights lit solely by moon and stars
astir with life, earthbound and aloft
camouflaged critters of deadly beauty
run, slither, hop, fly, or crawl
