Bedtime

It’s almost one o’clock by now;
I’m lying wide awake.
I’m trying hard to get to sleep.
So how long will it take?

It’s almost two o’clock by now;
my eyes are open wide.
I could give up and read a book
but I still have some pride.

It’s almost three o’clock by now;
I hear that ticking clock.
Remind me to get rid of it
and lose that damn tick-tock.

It’s almost four o’clock by now;
I haven’t slept a wink.
I’ve tried to clear my mind to sleep.
It’s harder than you’d think.

It’s almost five o’clock by now;
those clock hands slowly crawl.
And in the distance far away
I hear a rooster call.

It’s almost six o’clock by now;
some light is seeping in.
I might as well get out of bed.
Sometimes you just can’t win.

It’s really all my fault you know;
I had that little nap.
That really messed my schedule up
and now I feel like crap.

I need another nap.
