2020 PreQuill Ceremony notes

Hi everyone and welcome to the 14th annual PreQuills, celebrating the best of Writing.com from 2020!

Today we are announcing the finalists in 18 categories and we'll be announcing the winners of 19 genre categories!

The final Quill ceremony will be next Saturday, 22 May at 5pm WDC time and we’ll then announce the remaining Quill Award winners. In total we'll have more than 50 Quill winners!

If you miss any of the results, they'll be posted in the newsfeed and emailed to all nominees who are part of "Invalid Item" .

I'm delighted that several people won their very first Quills today, that's super exciting. An extra big congratulations to them.

And now, a special announcement. Firstly, we have commissioned a new merit badge for The Quills. Some of you may have seen it announced on the newsfeed by The StoryMistress .

All our honorable mentions this year will receiving this fancy new merit badge!



If you have been awarded an honorable mention for a Quill Award in a previous year and would like to add this fabulous new merit badge to your collection, we will be happy to send them out at a cost of 10k each. Please note that we will NOT be worrying about community recognition (i.e. we will not be waiting 14 days between merit badges) for these backdated ones. The reason they will cost 10k and we won't be allowing for CR is that all previous HMs have already received a merit badge, just not this particular merit badge. Let me know if you'd like yours and I'll arrange to send them through. I will, of course, be confirming all previous HMs according to our records, so please allow me some time.
