How one person's life changed.
Her hand was shaking as she poured her tea.
The veins in her hands were noticeable in the one light.
Her only food for the day was a stale piece of bread and butter hours ago.
The spinster straightened her sweater, then sat down.
Only hours ago the mail came with a letter that
informed her that she had 5 days to pay her electricity bill.

It seemed ages ago when she was the belle of her high school class.
Boys begged her for a kiss and to hold her hand.
Now the boys were men who had died in the war of wars.
Other girls married and moved to a nicer part of town.
Her siblings ignored her, and took trips and waited for a new grandchild to be born.
Her cat had died and the bird she had flew away.
Her dead parents left her no inheritance.
Life was different now that she was no longer a movie star.

She was a glamor girl who looked down on others.
Her leading men reported that she had no talent.
After any premier, she would make fun of others on the set.
She snubbed the people who were her best friends.
Her money was spent on trashy clothes or plastic surgery.
The limelight was intoxicating. She loved herself more than anything.
So after a few years, the darling of the wide, silent screen, went into seclusion waiting for that call that never came.
Life had changed indeed. Her love for herself became silent, just like the movies.
All she had now was her tea, and another piece of bread with butter.
