Society fears addiction but doesn't try to understand why. Ignorance never solves a thing.
Every up has a down
Every in has an out
Every addict has a sober
He just can't live without

Every man has a woman
Every woman has a tear
If the man she loves
Just can't steer clear

Every day he doesn't use
One day closer to the goal
Relapse is at the door
To take away his soul

A revolving door...
In and out...up and down
“He's still breathing!!”
In his chest a faint beat sounds

The questions are too easy
It's the answers no one knows
What's causing all this pain
These highs and these lows

Every addict has his day
Be it death or sobriety
A choice that must be made
By both him and society

Fringe dwellers are not evil
Only misunderstood
Judgment's cast by all
Both bad and good

Shed a tear for this woman
Who's seen every in and out
Every up and down
She can easily live without
