I Promise, No Grease Spots

“What are you doing?”

“Fixing my motorcycle, what’s it look like.”

“It looks like I may have to do some serious damage to you!”

“What? What’re you talking about. I’m tearing down an engine and I need a counter.”

“This is the last straw! Clean it up and get it out of my kitchen and if I find ONE grease spot I’ll divorce you!”

“You wouldn’t do that.”

“I will make your life the most miserable place in the universe, then I’ll divorce you!”

“But I need the bike to get to the rally in Sturgis.”

“That’s South Dakota, right?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, that’s 8 days of driving and 10 days of booze and bullshit so when you get back you’ll find your tools in an open garage, maybe. The lock is mine.”

“You wouldn’t!”

“Try me.”

“Okay, Honey, I’ll clean it up. I promise, no grease spots. ”

“When?”

“Another couple hours I’ll be done.”

“Okay, I can’t cook in this mess so you’ll take me for dinner. Be ready in an hour.”

“But—.”

“No buts! An hour or your life won’t be worth living.”

“God, women.”

“Oh? You didn’t think that when you chased me until I stopped running. You didn’t think that last night either. Or did you?”

“No, sweetheart, I did not think that. I love you.”

“Then act like it and clean this mess up.”

“But I only have a couple—.

“You only have an hour to get ready to take me for dinner. You need a sport coat there.”

“Crap. But—.”

“No buts! An hour. You can finish that after.”

“Everything is on plastic drop cloths, cleanup will only take—.

“An hour! I’m going to jump in the shower now.”

“I’ll be right there.”
