HEART ON A TREE

HEART ON A TREE

Wings of words will carry me,
back to the place I want to be,
where in my dreams again I’ll see,
the heart I carved on the Maple tree.

In that symbol I put my name,
then added yours, as the same.

The heart has long since faded,
still there remains there shaded,
The sign of us; that old mark,
somewhere deep within its bark.
