It's that time of the year... maybe. A Pop-Poetry Entry |
Spring Cleaning Today’s the vernal equinox; official start of spring. Time to unpack that dusty box of potions for cleaning. A half used can of Pledge… and more - what wonders there reside! Windex and products for the floor No longer can they hide. It’s time to fill the house with light. Goodbye to winter’s gloom! The dingy greys will turn to white. Brightness will fill each room. Mops and buckets, brooms and rags, I preplan what I’ll clean, along with lots and lots of bags and gallons of caffeine. I’ve finally conquered my aversion; the family will applaud when they discover my conversion: Cleanliness is next to God! The spirit’s strong, the flesh is weak and my eyes fill with tears. It’s time for cleaning hide and seek. Where are my volunteers? It’s all unpacked and plotted out. I stare in disbelief. I’m overcome with clouds of doubt and find there’s no relief. I’m overwhelmed, lean my chair back, think, my plans are not a whole miss. I’m pretty sure I’m still on track to be done by summer solstice! An entry for the March round of "The Random Poetry Contest" Prompt: Must incorporate these words: pledge, spring, applaud Form: Quatrains Line Limit: Min - 12 lines Line Count: 32 |
