Construct Cup ...10 Anniversary :) |
Theme: Anniversary. Today is my husband's and my 10th Anniversary. (SO Geeked!) Write about 'an' anniversary...any kind of anniversary... 3rd Christmas together, wedding, a wdc anniversary … perhaps a cancer free date or x years at a job. Words to use: the year of the anniversay and what it is. Forbidden words:All words are good because each scenario is different. Additional parameters: At least 40 lines. Make us want to go 'awww...sniff...smile' Stick Ten years since you asked me to stick, through the thin and thick that makes up a life. House fires, my PTSD, a bankruptcy-- things full of stress that didn't mess with the being stuck. We've learned laughter is a warm blanket, lasagna moments are forestalled by honest talk. Having each other's back, knowing when to give in, choosing battles and listening to the spaces between the words. Stick. Because of a long ago silly thing between us that made us laugh, the word is reflected in all parts of our lives, our us-ness. Engraved word inside my wedding ring, to a wooden jewelry box you made from black walnut logs. From an eight foot piece of bamboo on the wall to baskets made from drift-sticks. We are stuck. Ten roses this morning-- one for each year. A wooden heart now hanging front and center on the tree. Typical as love is the center of everything vital to us. Hearts and minds sticking to what we believe in, growing our tree full of sticks. Down the road, far, far down the road beyond any future twists and turns, muddy potholes and flooded ditches, beyond more grand and great-grands we shall stick together still, as we bow out of this life: buried together 'neath that ancient oak on the hill, the one that looks out over a forest of sticks. Together we shall fuel strong boughs based upon the vows we made ten years ago today. |
