The passing of one who will be missed
We found you, or was it the other way around
Looking for a companion, friend, maybe a family member
Becoming more than we would ever know or expect
You ran away, but miraculously came back
Joy filled that moment and much more joy was to come
The love between became unconditional more on your end than ours
Detachment between each has become more difficult
Etching your way into our family unit
Becoming part of all of our major decisions along with a few added medical bills
Conversation pieces of fun and joy to others you were
A welcoming face when we walk through the door day in and day out
No matter where we are there you were
One day you did not come and greet me
I couldn’t find you, you purposely hid yourself
I knew sadly in my heart, it was time to say good-bye
With a lump in our throats and sadness in our souls we had to bid you adieu
I will look for you when I come through the door, sadly you won’t be there
I still see you out of the corner of my eye walking towards me, still not realizing you’re gone
Never being aware of how close you had become to us, me
We will be forever connected….
