“Is this it?” Han called, snickering, holding up a bra.

“Put that back!” Mirna yelled, irritated, “This isn’t funny!” and Han turned into a cockroach.

“Mirna! He was just being silly!” Lor scolded.

Mirna glared at the cockroach, then snapped her fingers again and Han turned back into a hundred and eight -year-old.

Turning back to her searching, “If I don’t find that scrap of paper before day’s end there’ll be a lot less silly around here. If Grayheart win’s, he’ll outlaw magic and we’ll all be fugitives!”

“I know, but Han’s just a child... Where did you see it last? Big, or small, what color? Give us some clues.”

Mirna sat down. “Yes, you’re right. It’s a small piece of blue paper. About two inches at most. There’s writing on one side, and a star on the other. It’s crumpled. I found it crumpled and not knowing what it was, I only opened it enough to see what it was. Then, when it didn’t seem to mean anything, I tossed it somewhere where...”

“it would be safe...” Lor finished, “right?”

“Yes, I shouldn’t do that. Those things are always safe, but sometimes I have look for weeks to find them!” Mirna said.

“We’ll work on that later. A small piece of paper...” Lor said thoughtfully. “How about that dish next to where you watch TV?”

“YES! That’s it!” Mirna ran, getting the paper and quickly reciting the words while holding her amulet. Finally, with a sigh of relief, “Done!” she said.

In the Town Hall, Mr. Grayheart’s secretary walked into his office to deliver some papers. She screamed, “A rat! There’s a rat in here!”

‘I should have stuck to regulating the Business Association,’ Mr. Grayheart thought, as he looked down at his sleek gray body, and sighed.
