When I am gone
Everything will be okay,
All I planned on doing: done
And hoped I lived a nice life, everyday
I would have read that one special book
I would have probably - written one,
Gone to places and cooked
And exotic foods - tried some!
I would have listened to more Elvis' songs
Danced more and enjoyed life with pleasure,
Never regretting all of my wrongs
And made precious friends, forever
I would have had someone to love
Maybe a few - but always good ones,
Given much; merited credit to heaven above
And left a part of me in my grandsons
When I am ... gone
I don't know if I'll be part of history,
Everything will be done gone
And I will be but a memory.
