Something that happens to me, more often than not
Shadows of Past Musings

All things begin with
An unfailing face
A familiar smile
A yearned embrace
Lacking proper conversation
Pining against expectation
Seeking to strengthen the will
Reaching
Instead
For the feathered quill
Failing that
Plastic buttons
Underneath lightning fingertips
Or simple chicken scratches
On mediocre shades of bark
Here
Plains of battlefields commence
Blood surges forward
Unimagined adrenaline to greet it
Unfeigned wounds spread
Unhealed
Unfettered
War manifest
Between body, mind and spirit
But most importantly
The heart
Heroic deeds
Vainglorious facades
Dart within the pages and suffer once again
The unstoppable marking called a period
Only to be restarted with regaining ferocity
And as the seconds roll on
Within the many porous fibres
Underneath the many voracious nicks
And the tingling sensation beneath avid fingertips

Is the life that cannot be grasped

But only dreamed of
