Just something I wrote while sitting in the woods one day.
Alone In the Wilderness

I sit in the wilderness alone,
listening quietly to crickets drone.
The smell of sweet pine
fills my senses with harmony.

A lonesome squirrel hunts,
gathering fruits and nuts.
He climbs up one tree
and descends the next with ease.
I look at him, he looks at me,
both enjoying the quiet peace,
that being in the wilderness brings.

The quiet solitude calms me down,
allowing my mind’s eye to focus.
The words now come easily
as if I am in a dream.

Sadness and dread soon come over me;
I know that it is time for me to leave.
I say goodbye to the wilderness for now,
but I will be back another day.
