When the bases are loaded;
With runners at every corner,
The goal is to drive in runs
And seize the opportunity.

But so often, the objective falls by the wayside;
The team does not produce a single run
And must declare the rally dead.

But this sad memory is short-lived;
Because sports require
More than just endless drive
And ambition.

In fact, most attempts are decided
By mere inches...   

And athletes value those years
Of training needed
To dial in their highest levels of play...
