2016-2017 - Turn the Page

Like any old year, 16
waxed and waned tides
of tears, of giggles, of indelible
moments scratched into the paper of my life.
Friend vanished into smoke,
wisping away into the ether-
and I wonder how she is.
Others wisped as well
but they, beyond to clouds.
Laughter bubbled, like eternal spring,
to wash and renew.
'A Masquerade' simmers, waits
to spill forth onto my keyboard
like so much coffee. I have a new one
and it can stand the heat.
Set new records: never been one to stay put
but roots have grown deep into
liferock. Putting to bed the notion
of free-spirited meanders.

Like any new year, 17
washes new promises in hope.
Six months of planning come to fruition
in whales spouting volcanoes, in steel decks,
in core-deep reverence.
Together he and I
shall find another pearl to string.
My book shall spew forth,
the pot to boil over.
Reframing of company to keep--time to sort,
to toss into the mix
the unexpected.
A marriage of dreams and reality
where golden will be celebrated,
built on bedrock bewinged.

Tis but time
to turn the page,
discovering new chapters,
life-plotted twists,
perhaps a denouement (of sorts)
or not-- and then
another book to open.
My world of words ever scrambling
to find fresh combinations, new movements.
The delete key is in a new place. A ']'
fences in ... or out
distractions.
A new book is but a new journey:
I so look forward to the read!
