A poem about a love affair that will never be
Just passing through…
I can’t even to talk to you.
The words will soon fall away…
And we will have nothing left to say.

So please, don’t start a conversation,
Despite the longing glance in contemplation.
Don’t tell me your name,
Precious seconds you waste on this silly game.

I know those eyes all too well,
I once fell victim to your spell.
Though I’ve never once seen you before,
You’re just like all the rest I’m sure.

Your eyes like the ocean’s current, pulling me in,
Your imagination full of intentions, fantasies, sin.
Your lips like flowers, delicate and alluring.
Your presence like a drug, tempting and curing.

I saw the end before it even began,
I saw in a stranger: a lover, a friend.
We could be like Bonnie and Clyde,
See the whole world, take life for a ride.

I can see you with me anywhere,
Only a few short hours until I begin to care.
On a bus to Phoenix, on a plane to Rome,
Doesn’t matter the “where”, it’s the “who” that I call home.

But there’s too many shadows in this dawn,
Too many days to love you, ‘til you’re gone.
Too many cracks in this fragile glass,
Even a strong bond can’t outlast.

It’s not hard to walk away from this cliche,
I never wanted a love like that, anyway.
So I will leave you standing there were I saw you,
Like I said before, I’m just passing through.
