Love, lament, and letting go
Her feet were pacing
Her heart was racing
She impatiently awaited the news
She thought about the past
All the cries and some laughs
And wondered how she would make do
Gurneys in the background
Nurses all around
And a woman scorned suddenly amused
For out came the doctor
Who sat down beside her -
To deliver what she secretly wanted him to
Her husband had passed away
And now she could seize the day
And release all he'd put her through
The tables had turned
She lives and he learned
We all eventually get what we're due
