The tree was trimmed with Christmas ornaments galore,
and packages brightly wrapped and tied with bows.
Family were laughing as snow began to fall;
we marveled at the picture from the warmth inside.
Saint Nick was on his way with a sleigh full of toys;
children headed to bed in anticipation.
We put bright glowing lights around the tree
and snuggled deep beneath the quilt till morning’s light.
Yet spirits unspoken gathered, encircled us.
All our departed family, still they remained
to celebrate with us this snowy festive night;
Each rejoined once more in tonight’s circle of love.
