A collection of poems detailing important points in my life. Each one a step stone for me. |
-Zero- I’ve gotten to a point A weird point in my life. Weeks and months have gone by Enveloped in darkness But today, it’s different A door was opened And light pierces my weak eyes What ever fate had in store for me Today, would be realized I crawl towards the door, The light intensifies and burns But I push through the pain, Making it to the door Breath caught in my throat I can’t contain my tears Two strange men surround me As a young woman looks on. I’m finally free, I’m alive. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Two- I’ve gotten to a point A weird point in my life. My legs carry me, My voice defends me. Everyday, the world gets bigger And I can’t wait to explore it I think I’m going mad I see things others cannot. They’re not bad though, One of them is my friend. Jonathan’s his name As far as I’m concerned, He’s the only friend I’ll ever need Everyday, I’m learning. I’m alive. -Seven- I’ve gotten to a point A weird point in my life. School has been hell, People don’t seem to like me. They’ve called me many things, Freak, Weirdo, Monster, Creep And maybe they’re right. Everyday, the same routine. Class, Lunch, Beatdown, Lunch But today, it was different A girl, new girl Saved me from the monsters. Held my hand and wiped my tears. Jasmine’s her name As far as I’m concerned, She’s the only friend I’ll ever need. With her, I’m free I’m alive. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Nine - I’ve gotten to a point A weird point in my life. I’m learning to cope, At least I think so. A long year has passed, The longest thus far. Water still scares me, Fills me with tears that overflow Pools reflect her emerald eyes, Muddy lakes revive her hair, The paper I write on, Her tender skin I miss so dearly. Everyday, I write Immortalize my memories, Her memories On paper, she’s free She’s alive -Fourteen- I’ve gotten to a point A weird point in my life Freshman Fresh meat My style’s changing I’ve got a beat. This thing’s getting easy Making new friends Acing my grades. Everyday, I’m getting ahead I’m making my path And no matter what I’m blazing it. My time has come I’m free to do as I please, I’m alive. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Sixteen- I’ve gotten to a point A weird point in my life I wake up Day after day Nervous, Tired, Scared Nothing bad, Least I don’t think so. I think I’m Well I am In love. The feelings are there Butterflies? Check Muddled mind? Check Everlasting terror of never being good enough? Check, Check, Check. The longer I think, The more I know, I’m Alive. -Nineteen- I’ve gotten to a point, A weird point in my life. I feel myself weaken, Getting tired, broken. I haven’t seen my friends, Friends, Friends, Friends, in weeks, months, Months, Months, Months. I’ve skipped class again Can’t remember which one. My cello awaits my touch, The only thing I can handle. It asks me, begs me, “Help me speak” Hours later, Fingers bleeding, Arm cramping, Back is stiff, But I can keep playing, Playing, Playing, Playing Letting its voice ring, Speaking for us both. Missing class again, I don’t care. I’m learning my own thing. I reach a crescendo, I push it hard. Tears start flowing, I’m in pain and didn’t know it But no one can know With this mask I’ve created an illusion, One where they think, I’m alive. -Twenty- I’ve gotten to a point A weird point in my life. My pen bleeds on paper My memories flood me I choke back tears I choke back laughter The ups, the downs Every path, choice Fork in the road Has led me here To this desk Pen in hand Immortalizing my memories Their memories. On paper, they’re alive On paper, I’m alive In this endless universe, We’re alive |
