Granny and the Stick

There was a stick
I had to pick
when granny taught I did a naughty trick.

I’d give the stick
as loyal sidekick
when granny ordered “Quick!”

Then up the stick
it landed quick
on skin that was not thick.

The uncles said I was a hick
when I can run from granny’s stick.

I'd rather be called a hick
and not to be a slick
to granny who was sick.
